Indy Premier League: Playoff Format

For whatever reason, Yahoo only lets us do one week, single elimination matchups in the playoffs.. So we’re going to do it differently.

Your regular season performance determines how difficult your road to the title will be.

The Playoffs will start Week 18.. The top 6 teams make the dance, with the #1 and #2 seeds getting a Bye into the Round 2. Here’s how it will go down..

There are 3 distinct rounds:

*In the event of a tie, regular season matchup record will serve as the tiebreaker.

ROUND 1

#3 (1-0) vs #6 (0-1)

#4 (0-2) vs #5 (2-0)

This round can last one week or a maximum of two weeks.

The higher seed (#3,#4) advances if they win one week out of the two possible weeks.

The lower seed (#5,#6) advances if they win both weeks.

ROUND 2

#1 vs lowest seed remaining

#2 vs highest seed remaining

This round lasts three weeks.

A team is eliminated when they lose two matchups.

Example Scenario:

WEEK 1

#1 (1-0) vs #5 (0-1)

#2 (0-1) vs #3 (1-0)

WEEK 2

#1 (1-1) vs #3 (2-0)

#5 (1-1) vs #2 (0-2)

WEEK 3

#3 (2-0) BYE

#1 (2-1) vs #5 (1-2)

THE CHAMPIONSHIP

#1 (1-2) vs #3 (2-1) 🏆

The winner will be decided in a best of 3 week series. The first team to win two weeks is our champion.

Quick recap:

4 month regular season, 6-8 week postseason.

To become champion:

#5, #6 seeds must win 6 matchups

#3, #4 seeds must win 5 matchups

#1, #2 seeds must win 4 matchups
